Full Itinerary

DAY 1: SALTA. (D).

Arrival into Salta. In the afternoon, explore the city on a walking tour through its streets, churches, colonial buildings, and the High Mountain Archaeology Museum (MAAM). Dinner at Jose Balcarce

Restaurant, dedicated to Andean cuisine.

Maximum altitude: 1.152 MASL (3.779 ft.)


DAY 2: SALTA - PURMAMARCA (B).

Today travel to Purmamarca via Humahuaca Gorge. Visit a winery for some wine tasting from the region. Following a stop in Purmamarca take in the sunset at Salinas Grandes Salt Flat with a glass of wine.

Maximum altitude: 4.170 MASL (13.681 ft.)


DAY 3: PURMAMARCA - SALTA (B, L).

Departure towards Uquía to visit a special winery that boasts the highest wine cellar in the world, 3.640 MASL. Ascend to Moya’s Vineyard by 4x4’s and see the abandoned mining cave that offers the ideal conditions to the store and mature high-altitude wines. Return to Salta after visiting the Humahuaca Gorge.

DAY 4: SALTA - CACHI - COLOMÉ (B, D).

Today tour around Calchaquíes Valleys. From Route 40, continue towards Colomé, where one of the oldest wineries of Argentina is located.

Maximum altitude: 3.348 MASL (10.984 ft.)


DAY 5: COLOMÉ - CAFAYATE (B, L).

Visit the James Turrell (a world-renowned contemporary artists) Museum and winery for a guided tour. Following wine tasting and lunch continue to Cafayate via De Las Flechas Gorge.

Maximum altitude: 2.270 MASL (7.448 ft.)


DAY 6: CAFAYATE (B, L).

Morning tour of the Museum of Vine and Wine, then transfer to Piatelli Winery for a bike tour through the vineyards. Afternoon at leisure.

Maximum altitude: 1.660 MASL (5.446 ft.)


DAY 7: CAFAYATE - SALTA (B, L).

Visit one of the area’s wineries for lunch, then explore Cafayate Gorge before you transfer to the airport or extend your trip.

Maximum altitude: 1.660 MASL (5.446 ft.)


WHAT’S INCLUDED

Accommodation - 6 nights in minimum 3-star hotels.

Meals – As specified in the itinerary (B = Breakfast, L = Lunch, D = Dinner).

Luggage – One normal suitcase and one handbag per person included for hotel porterage.

Transfers – all airport transfers from arrival on Day 1 to final day (assuming specific group flights booked)

  • January to March is rainy season.

  • Not recommended for travellers with respiratory problems due to the high-altitude locations.

  • The Town Hall, MAAM, The Wine Museum and Pablo Díaz Museum closed on Mondays.

  • Departure flight should be after 8pm on Day 7.

  • Tour prices are based on shared group services (not private services).

  • Passport copies required 30 days prior to arrival for all passengers.
