Full Itinerary

DAY 1: CANCUN.

Arrival into Cancun. Time at leisure to explore.

DAY 2: CANCUN - CHICHEN-ITZA - MERIDA (B).

Trip to the archaeological site of Chichen Itza, located 120 km east. Chichen Itza is the best restored of Yucatan’s Mayan sites. Explore the magnificent ruins set in a dense jungle, including the Pyramid of Kukulcan, the Great Ball Court, and the Sacred Cenote. Continue to Merida.

DAY 3: MERIDA - CELESTUN - MERIDA (B).

Visit to the quaint fishing village of Celestun, located 90 km west of Merida. The Celestun Biosphere Reserve is home to 587 plant species, 42 of which are endemic. The fauna found in the reserve includes 304 bird species, amongst them the Mexican pink flamingo, least tern, jabiru, king vulture and greater white-fronted goose. Take a boat ride through the estuaries to observe the beautiful pink flamingo colonies and other birds. Return to Merida via freshwater springs where the water is sweet, transparent, and ideal for swimming.

DAY 4: MERIDA - CAMPECHE (B).

Morning departure to visit two of the most characteristic and beautiful aspects of the Yucatan; the ancient “haciendas” and the “cenotes”. First stop will be at the Hacienda Yaxcopoil dating back to the XVII century, the walking tour consists of visiting the main house with its high roofs and huge windows and some Mayan artifacts found nearby. Continue to the municipality of Peba located 15 minutes from Yaxcopoil hacienda where there is a cenote (sinkhole) surrounded by a wide variety of flora and fauna still used in traditional Mayan medicine. The shallow and transparent water of this cenote is great for kids and adults. After Peba, we continue towards Hacienda Mucuyché, a place full of history, magic, and adventure. The first part of the tour consists in visiting the most representative points. Take the opportunity to swim through a canal that will take you to the cenote, where snorkelling can be practiced or just relax. After lunch, continue to the archaeological site of Uxmal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The characteristic of the “Puuc” architectural style is that of having low and rectangular buildings with gardens in the centre surrounded by columns with inscriptions mostly dedicated to Chaac, the god of rain. Arriving at Campeche, you will check into your hotel. In the evening, walk its well-aligned streets that allow you to perform a pleasant journey admiring the palaces of the XVIII century and the coloured facades of the houses. Each street is full of history and legends that arose when the town was the only port for the Kingdom of Spain on the Yucatan Peninsula.

DAY 5: CAMPECHE - EDZNÁ - CHICANNÁ (B).

Visit one of the most interesting but lesser-known archaeological sites of the Mayan world: Edzná. Located in the centre of Campeche, it was built in a valley that suffered heavily from the effects of flooding; however, this hasn’t stopped its development due to its advanced architecture. Continue onto Chicanná.

DAY 6: CHICANNA - CALAKMUL - BACALAR (B).

Visit to the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve, Mexico’s largest tropical ecological reserve and the second “green lung” of the continent, which houses the archaeological site of Calakmul. With breath-taking beauty but also offers one of the best eco archaeological experiences to allow you to discover the Mayan world. The diversity of wildlife and vegetation will amaze you. Continue to Bacalar.

DAY 7: BACALAR - CANCUN, RIVIERA MAYA OR TULUM (B).

The Magic Town of Bacalar is also known as "The lagoon of seven colours" due to the changing tones which range from sandy white to hues of green and blue. This variety of colour occurs due to a combination of factors: the crystalline waters, the soft colour of the bottom of the lagoon and the rays of the sun. Visit the Fort of San Felipe Bacalar, where the walls, columns and bastions still show battle scars. It was built in 1725 to defend the town against pirates. Today it is a museum. At the entrance to the town, next to the lagoon, there is a beautiful natural well/sinkhole called the "Cenote Azul" which is an amazing 656 feet wide and 295 feet deep.

After Bacalar transfer to the beach location of your choice.
