Full Itinerary

DAY 1: BUENOS AIRES.

Morning arrival and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon panoramic tour of the city, exploring its most relevant landmarks, including Plaza de Mayo and La Boca. Evening at leisure.

DAY 2: BUENOS AIRES - LAS LOMITAS (B, L, D).

Fly to Formosa airport.  Transfer to Las Lomitas, where you will have access to La Estrella.  This “Bañado” is a young wetland because its formation has been produced since 1940 due to a series of overflows of the Pilcomayo River, intensified even more since 1966, what caused a unique microclimate. Here, appreciate so many species: birds of prey such as the caracara, wading birds, kingfishers, storks, flocks of neotropic cormorants and the Jabirú, the biggest bird of the area.  After lunch, head for an area called “El Vertedero” which is the most accessible site for admiring the “Bañado”. It is a water mirror that is full of dried trunks with branches where thousands of biguas sit; undoubtedly, the wetland’s first postal.  If water conditions allow, enjoy the sunset as we sail on the water.

DAY 3: LAS LOMITAS - FORMOSA (B, L, D).

Early morning, head for Fortín la Soledad, to board a boat into the wetlands’ heart, to spot a different landscape than El Vertedero. Sailing along you may spot an anteater, the yacaré, the capybara and the vizcacha, and hundreds of different species of plants, including one that can only be found in this place, called "champanes" by the locals.  Travel to Formosa.

DAY 4: FORMOSA - CONCEPCIÓN DEL YAGUARETÉ CORA (B, L, D).

This morning, start the trip to the Ibera Marshes and Concepción de Yaguareté Cora, a Corrientes’ village which still preserves some of its traditions, in addition of being the access to the marshes.  Following lunch, visit the Iberá Natural Reserve’s Interpretation Centre for an introductory talk.

DAY 5: CONCEPCIÓN DEL YAGUARETÉ CORA (B, L, D).

Today travel to Puerto Julí Cué, located 45 minutes from La Alondra. Board a small boat and sail the Carambola stream, whilst wildlife watching. Changing the boat halfway to cross the estuary coast in a typical Ibera’s canoe like the islanders originally used.

DAY 6: CONCEPCIÓN DEL YAGUARETÉ CORA - SANTA INÉS (B, L, D).

Head towards the province of Misiones, passing through other Iberá’s accesses such as San Antonio and Loreto. Lunch upon arrival at Estancia Santa Inés. Afternoon, enjoy the estancia, which was owned by a pioneer in yerba mate plantations in the province.

DAY 7: SANTA INÉS - PUERTO IGUAZÚ (B).

Depart this morning to San Ignacio Miní Jesuit Reduction (1632) to visit some of the best-preserved ruins. UNESCO declared this a Cultural Heritage Site as well as Santa Ana, Nuestra Señora de Loreto and Santa Maria la Mayor. In the afternoon continue to Puerto Iguazú.

DAY 8: PUERTO IGUAZÚ (B).

Today visit Iguazú National Park and the Falls. The tour includes the three circuits of the Park: Garganta del Diablo, The Upper and The Lower Trails. During the tour, free time to purchase lunch and the chance to take the optional Great Adventure, a boat ride that takes you into the very heart of the falls and followed by a walk through the jungle. Evening at leisure.

DAY 9: PUERTO IGUAZÚ - BUENOS AIRES (B).

Leave Puerto Iguazú to visit the Brazilian side of the falls, Foz do Iguaçu. Walk along the only path that leads to the viewpoint of Garganta del Diablo. Return to Puerto Iguazú and transfer to the airport. Arrival at Buenos Aires and transfer to the hotel.
