Full Itinerary

DAY 1: TUCUMÁN (L).

Early arrival at the province capital, Tucumán. Walking tour of the city and discover the importance being the site of the declaration of Independence.  Join a cooking lesson making “Empanadas”, a traditional Argentinian dish.


DAY 2: TUCUMÁN (B, L).

Today visit Villa Nogues, with its Gothic chapel and El Siambon’s Benedictine Monastery, also the summer village of San Javier, offering greats views of the capital city and its surrounding sugar cane plantations.

Maximum altitude: 1.200 MASL (3,950 ft.)


DAY 3: TUCUMÁN - TAFI DEL VALLE (B, L, D).

Travel to Tafi del Valle along the Los Sosa river gorge, a steep 30-kilometers canyon carved by the river within the lush subtropical forest. Continue to Estancia de Las Carreras, an old Jesuit ranch dating back to 1718.

Maximum Altitude: 2.000 MASL (6.550 ft.)


DAY 4: TAFI DEL VALLE (B, L, D).

Day at leisure to explore the estancia and the activities it offers, including the museum and

goat cheese factory. (Optional excursions available to book).


DAY 5: TAFI DEL VALLE - CAFAYATE (B).

Travel along the Wine Route observing the wineries and its vineyards. Visit the first communitarian winery in South America, in Amaicha del Valle.  Continuing along visit the Quilmes Aborigine Ruins, one of the most important pre-Hispanic settlements in the Calchaqui Valleys. Continue to Cafayate.

Maximum Altitude: 2.000 MASL (6.550 ft.)


DAY 6: CAFAYATE - SALTA (B).

Following the visit to the Wine Museum and a winery, we travel onto to Salta via the Cafayate Gorge.

Maximum Altitude: 1.660 MASL (5.440 ft.)


DAY 7: SALTA (B).

Today visit the Humahuaca Gorge, declared Cultural and Natural Heritage of Mankind by UNESCO.

Maximum Altitude: 3.012 MASL (9.880 ft.)


DAY 8: SALTA (B).

This morning, explore the city on a walking tour through its streets, churches, colonial buildings and the High Mountain Archaeology Museum (MAAM). Transfer to the airport for your flight or extend your trip.


WHAT’S INCLUDED

Accommodation - 7 nights in minimum 3-star hotels.

Meals - As specified in the itinerary (B = Breakfast, L = Lunch, D = Dinner).

Luggage - One normal suitcase and one handbag per person included for hotel porterage.

Transfers - all airport transfers from arrival on Day 1 to final day (assuming specific group flights booked).

Tours (with local bilingual English-speaking guides) - Tucumán: City tour, circuit to Villa Nogues. Tafi del Valle: Wine Route - Calchaqui Valleys. Salta: Humahuaca Gorge, walking city tour with MAAM.
