Valleys And Puna With Atacama

DAY 1: SALTA.

Arrival into Salta. Afternoon, explore the city on a walking tour through its streets, churches, colonial buildings, and the High Mountain Archaeology Museum (MAAM).

Maximum altitude: 1.152 MASL (3.779 ft.)

DAY 2: SALTA - CAFAYATE (B).

Travel to Cafayate through the Calchaquíes Valleys, stopping at Del Obispo Slope, Recta de Tin Tin and Los Cardones National Park. Upon arrival at Cachi free time to walk around the town. Continue towards Cafayate via Route 40, passing through towns such as Seclantas, Angastaco and Molinos, and the amazing De Las Flechas Gorge.

Maximum altitude: 3.457 MASL (11342 ft.)

DAY 3: CAFAYATE - SALTA (B).

Visit the city this morning followed by a drive through Salta, visiting De las Conchas Gorge, with its interesting formations created by the wind and water erosion.

Maximum altitude: 1.660 MASL (5.249 ft.)

DAY 4: SALTA - PURMAMARCA (B).

Today travel along the Quebrada del Toro (Del Toro’s Gorge) to discover the town of San Antonio de Los Cobres. Continue to Salinas Grandes Salt Flat and descend by the Cuesta de Lipán till Purmamarca, to the well- known Cerro de los Siete Colores.

DAY 5: PURMAMARCA (B).

Explore Quebrada de Humahuaca (Humahuaca Gorge), Natural and Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Maximum altitude: 3.000 MASL (9840 ft.)

DAY 6: PURMAMARCA - SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA (B).

Early morning departure towards Paso de Jama and San Pedro de Atacama. Time at leisure upon arrival.

Maximum altitude: 4.400 MASL (16.608 Ft.)

DAY 7: SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA (B).

Today explore Atacama Salt Flat and Chaxa Lagoon, part of Los Flamencos National Reserve. At the end of the day absorb the beautiful sunset at De la Luna Valley.

Maximum altitude: 2.500 MASL (8.300 ft.)

DAY 8: SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA (B).

Early departure to El Tatio Geysers, highest geothermal field in the world. Witness the steam fumaroles activity produced by the high temperatures of its craters.

Maximum altitude: 4.320 MASL (13.944 ft.)

DAY 9: SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA – SALTA (B).

Time at leisure until departure to Salta.

Maximum altitude: 2.447 MASL (8.028 ft.)

DAY 10: SALTA (B).

Transfer to the airport for your flight or extend your trip.
